Finding it hard to get clear information about grants for wigs and hairpieces? We are here to help. Foxy Locks is an HSE-registered supplier and an approved provider under the Department of Social Protection’s Treatment Benefit Scheme.
Hair loss from cancer treatment
The HSE covers up to €770 a year towards a wig or hairpiece. You do not need a medical card. We will give you the HSE form at your consultation. Any consultant or GP you attend can complete it, and you bring it back to us to process.
Alopecia
You can claim up to €500 a year if you pay PRSI, through the Treatment Benefit Scheme, which can also cover a dependent spouse or partner, or if you hold a medical card. Bring your PPS number and date of birth to your consultation and we will check your eligibility, then give you the PRSI form for your GP or consultant to complete. If you have not paid PRSI yourself, you may be able to claim on your spouse’s PRSI. A doctor’s letter is no longer accepted.
Health insurance
If you have health insurance, contact your provider to see whether your policy covers part of the cost.
